Project reflections

I think the project went really well even though i was going through a bad time. I believe it was down to my team members Raed, Ross and Zaim who delivered on all accounts and met there deadlines. It was a shame that we lost 2 other members of the team but we didn’t let that get to us much and we got on and got the extra work done our self.

Co-operative learning

I felt that the hands outs that were given in lectures were helpful in guiding the team to produce a good level of work. The team had strong communications and i got feedback from all members on their work. Working with this group of people was good. I would work with them again. We did face a number of problems one being myself i had stopped communicating as one of the other modules took over my time schedule and i was side tracked from project management and my other modules and i am well and truly sorry about that.

Project reflections

Did u like this project?

The project had an excellent start, but having said that the project started to go downhill.

What went well?

Well this is a hard one to answer. I would say we had strong team members but like any other team we had weak members, which started to slow down the project.

What would you do differently?

I would be honoured if I was able to pick my own group, this is the one thing I would do differently.

Cooperative learning

Working with people has many points some being positive and some being negative. I found relying on some individuals can be a stressful thing as they do not do their work or tell us they are dropping out. Team motivation played a key role in the project 3 members were constantly in contact keeping the team updated and letting the team know what’s going on. The best moment was the start of the project and having an early start. The worst moment was the team falling apart.

About you

At the moment I’m involved in a project which is outside university and I cannot go in to more detail on that. I would like to make games in the future.

Project reflections

Project management 2 was pretty impressive as I learnt many things from experiencing team work, meetings and assignment deadlines. The project started off well with strong group members and motivation to complete the assignment as soon as possible. The team work between some people went well in the project; however some team members fluctuated during the project. If this project was to commence again, I would give being the project manager a try and experience what it is like to manage a team to improve communication skills and teamwork.

Co-operative learning

Working with people could be of two things, either good or bad overtime. I learnt that when working with people you don’t know well, the team agrees with each other due to going through the forming stage. However when each team member gets comfortable with each other, the storming stage occurs with many disagreements and arguments arising. I motivated people by completing work early and sending it off to team members so they get motivated to complete theirs early. I could have motivated people more by arranging team meetings with the project manager and showing how the work could be completed easily and effectively. I felt like some team members listened to what I told them, like to come to a meeting at 8 o’clock and they would do as they are told, however not all team members listened to what was being said as explained earlier. To max out communication I could call/text, speak on skype/MSN and arrange meetings with people either online or face to face. The best moment of the project was the forming stage, as we are all getting to know each other more which is generally a fun moment. The worst moment in the project was the storming stage as there have been many arguments and disagreements with the team. The group did come together most of the time to create the game design document and presentation, however some moments, not the whole group would be in a meeting and we would then discuss something and pass it on to the absent members.

About you

At the moment I am not involved in any thing, however I am planning in being involved in a project to make a game. I would like to be a 3D environment artist in the future, working for the games industry or the movie industry. I like to use 3Ds max and learn a lot about it during the process. I dislike making mistakes when using 3D but its also good learning from mistakes as you don’t go through them again. Everyday I look forward to seeing my friends and working on a personal 3D project.

Project Management 2 - Ross

The project began well, with deadlines being met and the work being completed to a good standard. This then started to change as the group started to fall apart a bit due to certain members deciding the course wasn’t for them. This then had a knock on effect on the team meetings and more importantly on the presentation that needed to be produced. So overall the work was fully completed and to a good standard, but I would prefer if the group itself would have a higher level of consistency throughout the project, which would then ensure that all of the work was of a high standards and met the deadlines given.

Due to problems within the group during the whole process of completing this task I feel that the team worked well under the circumstances. Most meetings became cancelled because of various reasons, but this did not effect the completion of tasks on time. This is mainly due to good communication of the group through other forms such as skype meetings. There were some members of the group, who were more predominant speakers than others and tend to block others out sometimes, but this was only occasionally depending on the topic of discussion, and everyone generally had their say and were listened to by everyone else. The best moment was when the design document was finally completed which was a relief to everyone, which opposes the worst moment which was when we were scheduled to practise our presentation which became hindered with our team falling apart. Overall I feel the group worked well together as a team.
